I'll also be doing some reviews on some books I read, movies and at times, music. When doing a book and movie review i will try my best not to have any spoilers but if I do end up giving some parts away I will give you fair warning before reading.

LOVE THE WAY YOU LIE

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uelHwf8o7_U&feature=youtu.be

I had no idea the music video for this amazing song was coming out tonight.
Okay, I'm going to give you my honest first thoughts about this song and video when both were released.
When I first saw the song Love The Way You Lie with Eminem and Rihanna I thought okay, Eminem and Rihanna? I gotta hear this, so I hit play on the preview button and then I heard it. First thing I really heard was Eminem's cursing and then I just heard a second or two and just stopped playing it. I hardly gave it a chance. Fast forward to last week. I have no clue why I even decided to listen to this song again but I did. Holy crap.  Yup, those were my first thoughts, followed by Eminem has frickin done it AGAIN. This rapper amazes me.

**SPOILER ALERT**

In this song Eminem and Rihanna tackle the truth behind abusive relationships. It shows how a boyfriend [or husband] can lose his temper so quickly and act out in a way harmful to his gf. But it also goes on to say how he apologizes, she forgives him time and time again because she loves him and knows he didn't mean it, the cycle continues until said gf decides she can't take it and her bf goes ballistic.

Eminem is a true artist and his emotions are heard in every single word of this song. I believe that this is most notable when in the third verse he raps:

Now I know we said things, did things that we didn't mean
And we fall back into the same patterns, same routine

There he begins to sound more calm, as if he is trying to reason with her not to leave him. He even sounds a bit sweet explaining that relationships have their up and downs.
Now listen to this part:

Maybe our relationship isn't as crazy as it seems

Maybe that's what happens when a tornado meets a volcano

Here he begins to sound desperate because she's still going to leave and none of his words are working like they usually do.
But now listen to this part:

Come inside, pick up your bags off the sidewalk

Don't you hear sincerity in my voice when I talk

Right there, right there (!) I believe shows him really letting go and getting angry. She's not going to stay and he realizes that. Now he is getting pissed and that second line Don't you hear sincerity in my voice when I talk? Can you see him grabbing her and asking her that, his voice beginning to raise and he starts to really look menacing?

I told you this is my fault

Look me in the eyeball

Eyeball? To me his eyes are really beginning to bulge out and he's just yelling and screaming at her. He's lost it. There is no discussion, he's done trying to reason with her. He's grabbing her, he doesn't say please or come on look inside my eyes, it's a forceful sentence, Look me in the eyeball.

I apologize even though I know its lies

By then I believe he realizes that no matter what he does or she does, he's just gonna lose it. He's saying he's done, finished trying to cover up what he knows he is.

If she ever tries to f******g leave again

Im'a tie her to the bed and set this house on fire

No question. He's lost it completely. It's all out. He's gone mad.

This song is so amazing. Eminem knows how to connect to his lyrics. You just have to listen to his tone in every sentence of this song. When he needs to be mad, he's furious. When he needs to be calm, he's cool. When he needs to be crazy, he's insane.  He truly brings this song to life and gives us insight into the mind of an abusive partner.

Rihanna opens the song and I have to admit she's not my favorite artist but she sang the chorus.. well she's lived it and only she could give out exactly what it means. It's strong but at the same time melancholy and tragic. Especially when she sings

Just gonna stand there and hear me cry
But that's alright because I love the way you lie,
I love the way you lie.

Tragic, isn't? It is absolutely tragic. She knows he's lying time after time. But his voice, his arms, him- she loves him and is willing to put up with it all. She's the voice of all the girls out there who have ever been abused by someone they love. She's sings the same thing every time throughout the song but perhaps that has a meaning behind it, a person who gets abused, if they don't get help do they not have the same thing happening to them time after time? Especially when their boyfriend tells them they promise it won't happen again but it does, they live the same scene day after day or have that fear. But every time they forgive their boyfriend simply because she loves him.
